E.O.T.C Recount

Wednesday of E.O.T.C week after morning tea I felt so excited while I walked along Castor Bay beach and I zipped up my life jacket. I chose a red kayak and hauled it into the salty sea and as soon as it was in the water I jumped in my kayak and then picked my paddle. In my head i’m thinking “ Wow. i’m so lucky to have an amazing chance like this for E.O.T.C with Room 7 and 9”.

Firstly the instructor told us to just have a paddle around then come back. The view was amazing because there were beautiful trees on the parts of New Zealand and large cities in the distance with the sun sparkling on the calm waters. Then we made a chain by getting our kayaks touching and the person holds the handles on the side of the kayaks. After everyone was done we played a game. The pattern went apple, banana and then orange. I was an orange. The Apples had to to the actions to the song and sing Eyes, Ears, knees and toes. Then the bananas had to kiss the end of the kayak. Finally the oranges turn! I was so excited but then…. The instructor told the oranges to do a 360 jump! But then she was joking and said do a 180 jump. And I did it and that was epic.

After that I felt even more excited to progress throughout the day. That was the end of Motutapu’s turn at kayaking. That was a fantastic day at Castor Bay.When I got on the bus I felt so refreshed when I had my dry clothes on!! I had a great day!!
